## Overview

**Serves:** /study-abroad-scholarship (nid 22) and its about 20 sibling award pages (one page per Honor Society® scholarship). **Base page:** /study-abroad-scholarship, copy as on prod 2026-10-14. **Page kind:** conversion. [All recipes](/recipes/)

**How to use this recipe:** it shows a proven page shape, not a fixed template. Start from the closest recipe, choose the components that fit the content, combine them as needed and leave out what does not fit. Only the component rules are fixed: grounds, one gold element per viewport, heading order, marks and the rules on each component page.

**Sections of the base page** (ground in brackets):

1. Award hero [navy]: breadcrumb, eyebrow, H1, lead, facts, deadline card with the one Apply button. Printed by the template, not the body field.
2. Anchor nav [white, compact band]: directly after the hero. The band after the award hero pads back the card overhang (an award-hero rule).
3. Requirements [soft]: band head, two basic cards (who can apply, checklist), one line of copy, note callout.
4. How to apply [white]: steps (3), one text link.
5. Selection [soft]: band head, two basic cards, terms link.
6. Recipients [white]: recipient cards (3), a link list of videos, a link row.
7. Giving [navy]: single stat, fine print. Placeholder figure.
8. Related scholarships [soft]: link cards (4, two columns), a link row.
9. FAQ [white]: accordion (7 questions).
10. Terms [soft]: disclosure.
11. Articles and videos [white]: link cards (3), one text link.
12. CTA band [navy]: the closing band. Repeats the Apply button.

**Components:** award-hero, breadcrumb, band, heading, eyebrow, anchor-nav, card (basic, link), callout (note, warning), steps, stat, member-card --recipient, avatar --initials, qa --accordion, prose, link-list, link-row, fine print, disclosure, button, link, cta-band. A two-step trail uses back-link in place of the breadcrumb.

**Rules:**

- The main CTA is `Apply now`: in the hero card and in the CTA band, the two gold buttons on the page. This is the award-page exception to the site-wide `Start Free Membership`: the page exists for the application. Every other route is `.hs-link`.
- Hero facts: 2 to 5 in total, the deadline included. The amount comes first with `--amount`. More facts push the deadline under the 375 × 700 fold.
- The deadline is plain text in `<time datetime>`. It appears in the hero card and in FAQ 2; the deadline day also appears in three lines of copy. All of it comes from one value (see notes).
- Grounds rotate; no two neighbouring bands share a ground. Navy only for the hero, the stat band and the CTA band.
- Every band carries `data-section`; every button, text link and link card carries `data-ph-capture-attribute-cta` and `-cta-loc` (the band slug).
- A link card is one `<a>`. A recipient card links to the story; the video goes in the band’s link list, never in the card.
- A related-award card shows the amount as the eyebrow above the card title: `<p class="hs-eyebrow">$1,000</p>`, then `h3.hs-card__title`.
- The terms band h2 names the terms. The disclosure under it starts with the first paragraph: no `h3` that repeats the h2.
- Headings: the award hero has the only H1. Bands open with h2; cards, steps and sub-heads use h3.
- No arrows (→ ↓ ↗) in labels. full_html turns a newline between inline elements into `<br>`: keep each paragraph, card and link row on one line.

## Live page

Copy everything inside the block. HTML comments mark what the template prints and what is a placeholder.

```html
<!-- AWARD HERO: printed by the award template. A page built from the body alone starts with this header in the body.
     Every value in it comes from an award field: name (H1), lead, amount, facts, deadline, apply URL.
     The breadcrumb replaces prod's "Explore all Honor Society scholarships" back-link (three steps, so it is visible).
     A page whose trail is only two steps uses .hs-back-link in the same place instead.
     The next band follows directly: .hs-award-hero + .hs-band pads back the card overhang. Here it is the anchor nav. -->
## Notes
**Changes from the prod page (structure, not copy):**
- The back-link “Explore all Honor Society scholarships” became a three-step breadcrumb in the hero.
- The amount left its h2 (“$1,000” was a heading): it is the first hero fact. The hero H1 is the award name.
- “01/02/03” left the step copy: the steps component draws the numbers.
- Each recipient card had three links; it is now one link card to the story. The YouTube links moved to a list under the cards.
- The second YouTube list in “Articles & videos” is dropped: it repeated the recipient video links.
- Related cards: the link moved from the h3 to the whole card. The 7 FAQ cards became an accordion. The “Connect the destination” h3 became the callout title (a `<p>`, as in the component).
- Arrows (→ ↓ ↗) left every label. Terms: the `<br>` after each bold label is gone.
- Recipient videos: a video facade per recipient was not used here. The recipient band already shows three cards; the videos stay one link list. A page that features one video uses `.hs-video`.
**Copy issues against house style (kept as written):**
- Banned nouns: “opportunity” / “opportunities” (giving lead, FAQ 4, “Browse additional scholarship opportunities”); “more” (“More scholarships” anchor, “More recipient stories & videos”, “Explore more scholarship recipient stories”, “3 or more months”).
- The mark: the eyebrow is the first reference; the lead and FAQ 1 repeat “Honor Society®”, and the terms repeat it in every sentence. After the first reference house style writes “Honor Society”. The legal terms may keep the mark.
- “Open to all applicants” reads close to the banned “anyone can join” framing. It is an award, not membership, so it may stand.
- “students” only (hero lead): house style says never narrow the audience to students. The award itself may be student-only; confirm.
- “Read Honor Society’s giving statement” links to /university-relations, which is not a giving statement.
- “Explore” / “Browse” / “Compare” labels are fine (verb plus noun). “Visit the Help Center” is fine.
**Figures:** “$1M+” / “more than $1 million” is not in site facts. It shows here as a marked placeholder in brackets. Award amounts ($1,000, $2,000) come from the award pages, not site facts.
**Dynamic parts:**
- **Deadline.** Prod computes the next 28th in PHP (php_code body) and prints it in two `<time>` elements: the hero card and FAQ 2. Deadline production stays as it is today. In the recipe the date is plain text in `<time datetime>`. The value will come from the future award content type, which will also own the deadline day (8th, 14th, 21st or 28th on the sibling pages). That day appears in three more places: the hero note, the selection lead and FAQ 2.
- **Award hero.** Every value in it is an award field: name (H1), lead, amount, 1 to 4 facts, deadline, rolling-rule note, apply URL. The award template prints it before the body, as R1’s page head.
- **Repeated values.** The amount ($1,000) also appears in FAQ 1; the apply URL (/study-abroad-scholarship-0) in the hero, step 1, the steps link and the CTA band; the award name in the CTA band h2. All come from the same award fields.
- **Medal images.** `node--page.tpl.php` adds medal images by vid on three siblings (35881–35883). This recipe has no slot for them; the award template must decide.
- **Bleed.** The page template wraps the body in a narrow column. Bands must span the viewport: print the body outside that column, or give every band `hs-band--bleed`.
- **Head.** Prod meta description is the default (“Study Abroad Scholarship”). Each award needs its own.
**The hs_mcp validator must allow:**
- `<nav>` (anchor nav; breadcrumb if the hero ever moves into the body).
- `<time>` with `datetime` (FAQ 2). Without it, FAQ 2 states only the rolling rule.
- `data-section` with a slug value. Today a data-\* attribute other than the two PostHog ones must be a number.
- Class-based styling. The style guide must drop “no class-based styling, no flexbox or grid” and the inline-style recipes.
- For the hero in the body (a page built from the body alone): `<h1>` once, in the award hero, and `<nav>` for its breadcrumb. The template prints no title of its own on such a page.
- Already allowed and used here: `section`, `header`, `details`, `summary`, `dl`, `aria-*`, the two PostHog attributes. Never use the `open` attribute or `decoding`.
**Missing components:**
- Card and callout icons are inline SVG, and the validator has no `<svg>`. They are left out.
